Rebecca Walker is an assistant professor of urban planning at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed her PhD in urban planning at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, where she studied urban environmental planning and the politics, policies, and planning decisions that shape urban greenspaces in the Twin Cities. Her research interests lie at the intersection of housing, equity, and the environment in cities, focusing on the intersections between historic and contemporary housing policies and greenspaces. Rebecca is a community-engaged researcher committed to working toward advancing environmental and racial justice, and her research questions and agenda are co-developed in collaboration with community partners.
