Hyunch Sung is a landscape designer and artist living in the Bay Area, and the founder of Studio Moonya. Moonya creates landscapes and gardens with cultural memory and material curiosity. Unearthing cultural idiosyncrasies asserts the truth that we live in diverse communities. She co-founded Ssi Ya Gi, a collective that supports immigrant elders through gardens, storytelling, and social practice. She has taught urban design studios focused on cultural-political landscapes and radical empathy at USC, Cal Poly Pomona, and UC Berkeley. She received a B.A. in Literature from Amherst College and an M.L.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design.
