Mid-century urban renewal decimated much of downtown Minneapolis. Downtown East remained a sea of surface parking lots and an industrial riverfront for decades. This session explores the resurgence of the area and reviews the synergy between public and private development. During this session, you'll visit Water Works Park, Gold Medal Parks, The Commons, and Thrivent-Moment Block.

Understand the synergy between public space development and private development.
Learn how public space development can be elevated through public/private funding initiatives.
Participate in an on-site discussion about the benefits of companies remaining in East Town and how development has contributed to positive growth in the neighborhood.
Explore issues and opportunities related to brownfield development in the historically industrial Downtown East area.
